My name is Adaku and I am a third-year university student. I matriculated from Good Hope Seminary High School in 2022.

My name is Liyema and I matriculated in 2022 from Good Hope Seminary High School.

I am currently in my third year, studying at UCT as a Psychology major. My experience so far has been thrilling. I have learnt quite a lot academically and socially. How to interact with people from different backgrounds as well as how to stay on track with studies. Adjusting to your own rhythm has been quite the worthy goal so far because there is no spoon feeding here. You either do it or you don’t. Psychology has been treating me so well – just how I had imagined when selecting it as a career goal I wished to pursue from back in matric. I have one more year to go till I get my bachelors degree, steadily putting in my best of efforts and I believe that I will conquer by God’s grace.

My name is Ammaarah and I was apart of the Kika Trust from Grade 8-12.

I attended Good Hope Seminary Girls High and matriculated in 2022. I can definitely say that I was excited for life after high school, but didn’t know that it’d be more challenging. I’m currently studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of the Western Cape. It’s been quite the challenge but I’m definitely enjoying it. The university experience is much more enjoyable.

My name is Teslyn. I matriculated in the year 2022 from Good Hope Seminary high school.

After school I applied for and was accepted into a learnership in the hospitality industry (Accelerate Training Program). It’s a 5year program where you are exposed to both theory and practical part of the hospitality industry . Each year I will be placed at a new property within the Marriott International group within South Africa. Hospitality Management students are exposed to different departments within the hotel as a part of their practical training . As per theoretical aspects, we as trainees will spend 6 weeks at a hotel school (Cput Granger Bay) . At the end of the 5 year program I will graduate and then get a diploma in Hospitality Management.

Overall I’m really enjoying what I’m doing, I do think it’s a great opportunity for me. Over the past year and a half I’ve really grown in the industry and I’ve gained a lot of confidence. The people that I work with are extremely helpful and are always willing to assist.

 RIP:  Zukiswa Mlombile.

We lost our beautiful, vibrant Zuki in a tragic car accident on her way home from the Transkei in early January 2022. She was about to start Grade 10 and had 2 very successful and happy years with us. We pray for peace and comfort in the hearts of the Mlombile family, who lost their father and grandmother as well. You remain in our thoughts and Zukis’ legacy of kindness, hardwork and outspokenness will live on in the achievements of all our KIKA girls.

Below is the bio Zuki wrote in 2020 when she was in Grade 8:

My name is Zukiswa, I’m in grade 8 at Good Hope Seminary High School. One day I hope to study as a pediatrician. The reason being I love working with medicine and knowing about it, I love children too. I want to be a qualified pediatrician and live a good life and a healthy one. I have always wanted to take care of my parents as a dream and feed them, buy them a house and I hope to be successful in life. One thing I really love is school and I have always, sick or not I want to be at school. What I enjoy doing is laughing and having fun with family. I love being active playing netball or doing anything that involves a ball and learning new things. I am a very helpful person in general . I get really frustrated when I don’t know something trying harder and harder to know what I have to do .That is me Zukiswa, Thank you.

Tinika completed Matric in 2020 from Cape Town High. She had a very difficult final year with Covid disruptions and did not get the results she was hoping for. Tinika will restart her studies through Unisa when she feels ready. In the meantime she works in sales.

Ferlin was our very first beneficiary when she started Grade 8 in 2012. She matriculated with a Bachelors Pass from Cape Town High in 2016 and is currently working in Marketing, while studying towards a degree in Education through Unisa.

Ferlin was a leader at the Rock Girl Foundation and remains a mentor to young girls in her community.

Khaya, the young man with the most charming smile, was a beneficiary for 3 years. Khaya had unfortunate home circumstances and academically fell very far behind. Together with Khaya we took the decision that rather than repeating grade 11 at the age of 18, he enrolled in the Amy Foundation’s Hospitality Programme. Khaya has graduated as a pastry chef through their programme and worked in one of Cape Towns top hotels.
